Where to Stay When Visiting Mt. Rainier National Park

For a weekend getaway or a spa indulgence, Ashford, WA, is our secret destination in Western Washington!

My husband and I have long valued privacy above the usual B&B or hotel ameninities, especially when it comes to staying somewhere for a quiet, romantic weekend. Nothing ruins romantic faster than 0 privacy, kids running around, noise or . . . any number of nightmares that can happen all too easily during what should be a pleasant B&B stay.

On the flipside of this coin, nothing charges the batteries like a fully private hot tub, a spa with an amazing assortment of body treats, beautiful wildlife scenery and friendly service.

Out little secret getaway spot is Stormking Spa and Cabins.

Well worth the drive, Stormking Spa and Cabins is a small, family operated spa facility located just a few miles east of Ashford, WA. Stormking offers fantastic quality and personal touches that leave you feeling like you have found a genuine slice of paradise!

The owners Steve and Deborah run a fantastic establishment complete with a full service spa that hosts such treats like rhassoul clay body wraps, massage treatments, and amazing aromatherapy baths. Not into the spa thing? Indulge yourself in Stormking Spa's cedar sauna overlooking Goat Creek or let your body relax in your very own private hot tub - and we mean PRIVATE!

A lovely cedar yurt is waiting for you, complete with all the little goodies that make being away from home easy - DVD player, surround sound stereo system, DREAMY shower (roomy enough for two, and then some if you're staying in the Heron Cabin), comfy warm bed, gas fireplace, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker . . . . The list goes on, folks! Plus, their hospitality is a rare treat in this era of fast and empty service.

Steve and Deborah offer that extra touch of ideas on where to dine, places to visit, and sites to see that is uncommon these days. They are always a pleasure to see when we drop in and their business is a blessing on earth for the romantically inclined. :o)

Far from the noise, annoyance and chaos of the city and work, Stormking Spa and Cabins has been our standing date every 6 months for the past 3.5 years. They've been there for us for several important escapes as well as those just because retreats. There's nowhere better to unwind after a day spent hiking Rampart Ridge or wandering among the wildflowers of Paradise.

So take a load off, get a good massage, and enjoy the beautiful handcrafted cedar yurt magic of Stormking Spa.

You will not be disappointed!

And for great eats while staying at Stormking Spa and Cabins, visit the historic Copper Creek Inn, just moments away from Stormking's entrance. Hosting a nice beer and wine selection, fresh local fare, veggie alternatives and a blackberry pie to make mama proud! Ideal for lunch or dinner, we frequent the Copper Creek when we stay in Ashford. Their food can't be beat and their service is always cheerful and quick. Chow down!
